Tourist Attractions and Days Out in the North West

Anderton Boat Lift - Located near Northwich in Cheshire, the Anderton Boat Lift is one of the greatest monuments to Britain's last canal age and known as the "Cathedral of the Canals". The boat lift is operated by a partnership of public, private and voluntary organisations who are helping to restore canals at the same rate that they were built at the height of canal mania in the 1790's and the Anderton Boat Lift is one of British Waterways flagship restoration projects. This ambitious scheme restored the Anderton Boat Lift back to its original working order, reviving this "Cathedral of the Canals". The Lift has been restored to hydraulic operation with the 1908 structure and pulley wheels retained as a static monument.

Brimstage Maize Maze - Get lost in the giant 6 acre monkey maze, or the not quite so brave can find their fortune in the smaller jungle maze. A great day out with a really wild range of puzzles games and adventure. After your exciting jungle experience the whole family can enjoy the large picnic and play area and a tractor and trailer ride to see the real wildlife and farm animals in this “amazingly” rural heart of Wirral.
