It was to be known as the ICI Weston Club Angling Section, and was a part of the ICI Recreation Club, and remained in this state for some 45 years. When the recreation club was sold to a private group in 1994, the fishing section decided also to go private. The name was changed to Weston Angling Club Runcorn, and the club set about raising funds so that Sandymoor Pool at least, could be bought outright. The club is now thriving, with over 800 members, and has access to four different waters. Currently, membership is very reasonable, at £20 for seniors, £10 for juniors, ladies and disabled anglers, while OAP's get to fish for free. Don't forget though, that there is a one-off joining fee of £10 for senior anglers, and £5 for everyone else. ...Visit Weston Angling Club Website |
